ICM Group is looking for a 2nd Engineer to work for a Major Oil and Gas Drilling company.Job Summary:The 2nd Engineer is responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of the drilling rig s mechanical and electrical systems.
This role supports the Chief Engineer in ensuring all machinery operates efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall success of offshore drilling operations.Key Responsibilities:Machinery Operation: Assist in the operation of all machinery, including generators, pumps, and compressors.
Monitor performance and make adjustments as necessary.Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment.
Participate in troubleshooting and repairs under the guidance of the Chief Engineer.Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of machinery performance, maintenance activities, and any incidents.
Ensure documentation complies with company policies and regulatory standards.Safety Practices: Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations.
Participate in safety drills and training sessions to ensure preparedness for emergencies.Assisting in Watchkeeping: Stand watch in the engine room and monitor operations, reporting any abnormalities to the Chief Engineer.Team Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering team and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
Communicate effectively regarding equipment status and maintenance needs.Training and Development: Assist in training junior engineers and crew members on equipment operation and safety procedures.Qualifications:Education: Technical diploma or degree in marine engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.Experience: Previous experience as a 2nd Engineer or in a similar role within the offshore oil and gas industry is preferred.Skills: Strong technical knowledge of marine machinery and systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and safety documentation.Certifications: Valid STCW certification, including all required safety and operational certifications (e.g., BOSIET, HUET).Working Conditions:Environment: Offshore drilling rig, subject to extreme weather conditions and varying sea states.Compensation:Competitive salary based on experience.Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
