We deliver unrivalled emergency assistance during critical illness, accident or civil unrest.Position OverviewThe Coordinating Doctor / Medical Advisor provides clinical leadership and medical support to the 24-hour alarm centre combined with the running of medical evacuations and transport of patients.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide professional telephone medical consultations to patients and monitor the appropriateness of the medical treatment.Obtain medical reports verbally from treating Doctors to ascertain the suitability of patient s treatment and/or to coordinate the patient s needs for transport.Monitor the medical aspects of evacuations and repatriations, including assessing the necessity of an evacuation and the means by which it should take place.Liaise with medical departments of various commercial airlines for passenger clearance.
Complete medical information forms with accuracy and within required timeframes.Knowledge and adherence to International SOS internal policies and procedures, as well as policies and procedures outlined by our clients.Ensure that patient s information is stored appropriately in related systems and follows the internal procedures on privacy.
Patient information is not shared with other departments or externally.Communication with clients and other alarm centres through emails or confirmations is professional and meets business standards.Work as part of a regional and on call medical roster including shift work.Perform international medical repatriations when required.Occasionally assist with locums in our medical clinics worldwide.Assist with the training of new Operations Coordinators and/or Coordinating Doctors during the induction program when required.To work within and promote all International SOS s policies, procedures and corporate values.To be aware of International SOS OH&S policies, practices and procedures and actively participate in the ongoing development and enhancement of these important areas of our business.Undertaking project work or reasonable duties as requested by the direct Manager.Requirements:Medical Doctor with 5 years plus post-graduation experienceExperience gained within accident & emergency and general practiceVaried international medical and/or health care system experienceExperience in assistance, aviation, remote area medicineRequired Registration: Full registration to practice medicine in country of originRequired Languages: EnglishNational language in country of posting (when required)Required Skills and AbilitiesWork effectively with non-medical staff and clientsIntegrate medical information and produce recommendations to clientsPresent medical information to non-medical staff and clientsEffectively balance medical needs with commercial considerationsProfessional written and verbal communication skillsCustomer/client focusedEmpathetic mannerConfident clinical decision-making skillsTime managementTeam playerCultural awarenessComputer literateAt International SOS, we offer a great working environment, thanks to our commitment to flexible working, diversity, and development.
